Village Center
The work first began in this village years ago in response to the 2014 crisis. Many displaced people flooded here. Refugee, internally displaced people, genocide survivors… these terms were the adjectives to describe their circumstances.
Many had stories that include traumatic memories, hopelessness, missing loved ones, and loved ones who have been confirmed dead. Life will never be the same again.
Other adjectives also described these people: words like hospitable, resilient, courageous, persevering… They are working to rebuild their lives.
Many have returned to their homeland or located elsewhere.
Teaching English and literacy, along with translation projects are all ways we invest in relationships and to make the future better for the lives of the local people.
We seek to walk alongside those who remain in this region in various ways:
-Language literacy in their mother tongue
-Small scale food distribution
-Community development
-English classes
